TH335 is a cored wire specifically designed for arc spray systems. It produces a well-bonded wear-resistant coating with high-hardness. It has the unique ability to produce very rough profile coatings for non-slip applications. We start with a flat strip of steel and form it into a “U”, the powder is then deposited inside, the steel strip is then folded over after which it is drawn to size.

How is TH335 Applied?

TH335 is applied using the Twin Wire Arc Spray Process, sometimes referred to as metalizing:

  1. Two spools of TH335 wire are mounted into an arc spray machine.
  2. One wire is charged positive, the other negative. The wires strike an arc when brought near each other, melting the material.
  3. Compressed air atomizes and propels the molten material onto the substrate.
  4. The particles solidify in-flight, adhering mechanically to the substrate surface without welding.
